Indian Healthcare and Money

While hospital chains have not focussed on the primary healthcare opportunity in India, there is good money to be made here

"According to consultant McKinsey & Co, the Indian healthcare sector—including pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and hospital services—is expected to more than double in revenues to Rs 200,000 crore by 2012 from around Rs 90,000 crore in 2004. Expenditure on healthcare services—including diagnostics, hospital stays and outpatient consulting —is the largest component of this spend and is expected to grow more than 125% to Rs 156,000 crore by 2012 from Rs 69,000 crore. Outpatients account for 61%— or Rs 95,000 crore six years from now".
